According to <a href=\"https:\/\/ojs.utlib.ee\/index.php\/FCE\/article\/view\/fce.2021.58.14\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">revision<\/a> these fungi represented 37 taxa of fungi and 7 myxomycetes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Girgensohn\u2019s fungi mainly originate from the vicinity of Tartu, in addition from Southern Estonia and Latvia \u2013 from the valleys of Rivers Daugava and Gauja &#8211; then the area in the Livonian Governorate, Russian Empire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the left is example of agarics collected 31. VIII 1853 by T\u00e4htvere manor.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator alignwide has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n<p><strong>Heinrich August Dietrich <\/strong>(1820\u20131897) was a gardener, amateur botanist and the founder of Estonian mycology. He published a two-volume monograph (Blicke in die Cryptogamenwelt der Ostseeprovinzen 1856 \u2013 I, 1859 \u2013 II) dealing with over 1,000 fungal and fungal-like taxa, the first cryptogamic research of this kind for the Baltic region. The included taxa have only short descriptions but the vouchers have been preserved, collected from Estonian Governorate, Russian Empire, from the vicinity of Haimre and elsewhere from Rapla, Harju and L\u00e4\u00e4ne Counties, and from the vicinity of Tallinn.<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"532\" src=\"https:\/\/kogud.emu.ee\/myko\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2024\/01\/Dietrich_pp-e1706346636343-1024x532.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-539\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kogud.emu.ee\/myko\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2024\/01\/Dietrich_pp-e1706346636343-1024x532.png 1024w, https:\/\/kogud.emu.ee\/myko\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2024\/01\/Dietrich_pp-e1706346636343-300x156.png 300w, https:\/\/kogud.emu.ee\/myko\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2024\/01\/Dietrich_pp-e1706346636343-768x399.png 768w, https:\/\/kogud.emu.ee\/myko\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2024\/01\/Dietrich_pp-e1706346636343.png 1040w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Between 1852 and 1857, H. A. Dietrich issued nine volumes of <em>exciccatae <\/em>named <em>Centuria Plantarum Florae Balticae cryptogamarum<\/em>. Each contains ca 100 specimens, more than 800 preserved specimens in total. Only the 3rd volume is unpreserved according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ies.ee\/bahps\/acta-baltica\/abhps-9-2\/03_abhps-2021-2-03.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recent study<\/a>.
